Dear CdA friends.
We have a very special request to ask you.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Rising from the ashes of a semi derelict site founded at the height of the the Industrial Era is a grass roots development made up from an impressive collection of art studios, galleries and community centres.
Represented by Café des Artistes, Zu Studios, Another Fine Mesh, Pop Up Studios, The Foundry Gallery, The Phoenix Theatre, Starfish, Community Chef and recently Skatehouse a social enterprise scheme for skateboarders and young people.
This blossoming arts quarter in Lewes East Sussex is a remarkable example of human endeavour and creativity and also a continuation of a rich artistic, visionary and independently spirited culture which finds its’ roots in the great historical figures, artists and writers associated with the heritage of Lewes; Sir Thomas Paine, Bloomsbury and Glyndebourne.
The Phoenix symbolises the independence of our community which allows people to create spaces which adapt to their needs. Thus the area has become what enrichies the culture of Lewes and brings artistic expression to the town. Everyone is welcome to participate.
There is also a procession starting outside Zu Studios at 1.30pm on Wednesday 5th December.
We will be heading to Pelham House to present a petition and make a right song and dance! Bring instruments and be colourful!
